Henry Cavill encountered an obstacle while getting ready for the forthcoming Highlander reboot. During his training in pre-production, the actor reportedly suffered an injury. This unexpected injury has led to the delay of the production of Highlanders. As per a report from Deadline, the specific details of the injury remain unclear, but the film directed by Chad Stahelski is now anticipated to begin production early next year. The reboot, written by Michael Finch, features a talented cast that includes Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, and Max Zhang. Cavill is ready to portray the character MacLeod, also known as Lambert, in the movie.
Revisiting a classic
The 1986 Highlander starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, which centred around the final battle between immortal warriors across time. The story connects the past and present events.
Directed by Russell Mulcahy and produced by Peter S. Davis and William N. Panzer, the original movie developed a solid fanbase during the home video boom. This success resulted in multiple sequels and a well-received television series.
A sneak peek by Henry Cavill
During CinemaCon 2024, Cavill gave fans a sneak peek of the reboot. He said, “If you thought you’d seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet.” He also highlighted the depth the filmmakers are adding to the characters. Known for his performance in The Witcher, Cavill is well-versed in swordplay and fantasy action, which fans can anticipate seeing showcased in full.
Henry Cavill’s other projects
Besides Highlander, he is set to reprise his role as Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes 3, where he will star alongside Millie Bobby Brown. The release date for the third film has yet to be revealed. Cavill is also involved in Voltron, a live-action version of the beloved series. The plot centres around a group of space adventurers who operate a colossal robot called Voltron. Also, Cavill features in Guy Ritchie’s In the Grey alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez. This film revolves around two extraction experts assigned to save a senior female negotiator played by Rosamund Pike.
