Several media reports even claimed that during the shoot of the intimate scene, Vinod Khanna continued the kiss even after the director had called “cut.” Allegedly, Madhuri’s lips were injured, after which she cried and Vinod Khanna apologized. Nearly a decade later, in 1997, Madhuri Dixit starred opposite Vinod Khanna’s son, Akshay Khanna, as his heroine in the film Mohabbat. Mohabbat had an average performance at the box office, collecting around ₹9.77 crore worldwide against an estimated budget of ₹4.75 crore. The film released on September 19, 1997, and coincidentally, that same year Madhuri’s Dil To Pagal Hai became a blockbuster hit.
