Fiji Airways is joining the likes of Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways with the expansion of its on-demand dining program in business class.

On-demand dining has been a staple in first-class cabins, but only a few airlines offer the option in business class. In addition to Emirates and Etihad, only Swiss Airlines and Qatar Airways are actively promoting a dine on demand option (also referred to as “dine anytime”) on board. Fiji Airways first rolled out their on-demand dining program over the summer on routes to and from Dallas/Fort-Worth and Los Angeles to Nadi International Airport. Routes from San Francisco and Vancouver followed in November. Now, Fiji Airways has announced that on-demand dining will be implemented across their full network this year by April.

While airlines have consistently updated their in-flight dining experience (think: Delta teaming up with Los Angeles hotspot Jon & Vinny’s, or Cathay Pacific partnering with Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurant Duddell’s), many routes still only offer pre-set menu selections — and pre-set meal times.

Fiji Airways’ new experience offers a la carte dining, with the ability to order whatever (and however much) you want from the menu, and have your food served at any time throughout the flight. On a recent flight from LAX to Nadi, the menu included a poke bowl, grilled prawn vermicelli, and wagyu sliders for dinner, and a green smoothie (made with local fruits and vegetables), poached eggs, and warm lemon ricotta waffles among the options for breakfast. Though the menu is broken out into “small” and “large” plates, passengers are free to mix and match however they’d like for a true multi-course dining experience in the sky.

Local dishes and flavors abound, with ingredients like kumquat, macadamia nuts, nama (a.k.a. “Fijian sea grapes”) and native herbs and spices. Select routes also feature dishes like Fijian chicken curry — inspired by Fiji’s many roots in Southeast Asia — and grilled mahi mahi or hamachi crudo, a nod to the Pacific island’s access to fresh seafood. Fiji Airways says the chef-inspired menu reflects “Fiji’s unique position at the crossroads of Asia, Oceania and North America,” while using “local Fijian ingredients with an emphasis on sustainable sourcing.”

While Fiji Airways now offers the luxury of choice when it comes to meals on board, those who prefer a more traditional dining experience in business class can still select a pre-portioned “Supper Set,” with an appetizer, main course and dessert brought out together on one tray. Fijian cuisine remains a staple of these convenient supper sets, with coconut rice, island-style “Huli Huli” chicken and local salads and traditional desserts among the offerings. It’s an ideal option for passengers who prefer to quickly enjoy their meal before settling in for the flight.

Don’t skip the bar cart either: Fiji Airways offers a series of cocktails using locally-distilled Blue Turtle Gin Fiji and Fijian Bati Rum (the flight attendants can make you a mocktail version too).

Fiji Airways says the roll out of its dine-on-demand program reflects an increasing passenger trend that places emphasis on “control, personalization and less rigid schedules.” The business class dining experience was slowly made available on most Fiji Airways routes this year, including to and from international destinations like Singapore, New Zealand and Japan. The entire roll out, including flights to and from Australia and Hawaii will be completed by April.

    WHERE TO STAY

    InterContinental Fiji

Heading to Fiji? Stay at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, located on the shores of Natadola Bay and tucked away like a hidden paradise. Designed like a traditional Fijian village, the resort’s rooms and suites sit on more than 35 acres of lush gardens, gentle hills and sandy beaches, with a postcard-worthy professional golf course just minutes away. Continuing the wellness trend seen on Fiji Airways, the InterContinental is launching a new sleep package during National Sleep Awareness Month in March that includes tranquil rooms with “Cleopatra” tubs and curated sleep kits, along with access to a sleep expert who can help you find your bliss.

Fiji Airways’ on-demand dining program comes on the heels of the airline being named as the carrier with the “Best Cable Service” and “Best Food & Beverage in the South Pacific” at the 2026 APEX Best in Airline Awards.
