Meet the Cast of Amazon’s ‘Carrie’ Series

The Prime Video series based on Stephen King’s Carrie has filled out its core cast.

Summer Howell (Cult of Chucky, Hallmark’s Crashing Through the Snow) is playing the title role in the drama, a teenager with newly emerging telekinetic abilities. Samantha Sloyan (The Pitt) will star alongside Howell as Margaret White, Carrie’s domineering mother. Alison Thornton, Thalia Dudek, Siena Agudong, Amber Midthunder, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Joel Oulette and Matthew Lillard have also joined the cast.

Prime Video ordered the series in April, with Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Haunting) set as writer and showrunner. Flanagan has adapted several of King’s works in the past; in addition to The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep, he wrote the screenplays for The Life of Chuck and Gerald’s Game (teaming with Jeff Howard on the latter) and directed all three films.

Prime Video has described the series, in development since late 2024, as a “bold and timely reimagining” of King’s story.

Sloyan and Flanagan are frequent collaborators: She has had roles in Gerald’s Game and Flanagan’s series The Fall of the House of Usher, The Midnight Club, Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House.

Carrie is based on King’s first novel, published in 1974 and adapted several times since, most famously by Brian De Palma for a 1976 film that starred Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie. Flanagan is executive producing the Prime Video series with Trevor Macy of Intrepid Pictures. Amazon MGM Studios, where both Flanagan and Macy have overall deals, is producing.

Thornton (School Spirits) will play Chris Hargensen in the series. Dudek (Doctor Who) plays Emaline. Agudong (Sidelined: The QB and Me) will play Sue Snell. Midthunder (Prey, Legion) is playing Miss Desjardin. Totah (The Buccaneers) will play Tina. Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) plays Billy. Oulette (My Life With the Walter Boys) will play Tommy, and Lillard (The Life of Chuck, Good Girls) will play Principal Grayle.

Howell is repped by The Characters Talent Agency and Link Entertainment; Sloyan, by SDB Partners, 11:11 Entertainment and Goodman Genow; Thornton, by Amplified, Red Management and attorney Douglas R. Stone; Dudek, by Independent Talent Group in the U.K., 42 in the U.S., and Collective Talent in Australia; Agudong, by Gersh, Trilogy Talent and Hirsch Wallerstein; Midthunder, by CAA, Corner Booth Entertainment, Jackoway Austen and 2PM Sharp; Totah, by Gersh, Entertainment 360 and Imprint; Conti, by WME, The Artist Partnership, Shelter PR and Myman Greenspan; Oulette, by Darryl Mork Talent Management; and Lillard, by Verve, Strand Entertainment and Heller Law.
