Daredevil Born Again continues its highly anticipated second season with the second and third episodes releasing this week. The series delves further into Mayor Wilson Fisk’s crackdown on vigilantes and his fight against Matt Murdock, which escalates to a massive level by the time the credits roll on episode 3.

From propaganda wars to a sham trial and a climactic prison break, here’s everything that happens in Daredevil Born Again episodes 2 and 3.

    The Hunt For Daredevil Continues

Wilson Fisk is still on the lookout for Daredevil after learning about how his Anti-Vigilante Task Force narrowly failed to apprehend him when we last left off. Matt and Karen, meanwhile, are trying to piece together Bullseye’s motives for saving Matt’s life.

While it’s clear he isn’t out for Matt’s blood, is that simply so that he can revel in the chaos that ensues as Matt and Fisk continue to go after each other? We aren’t given a clear answer, but Bullseye remains at large and is still hunting down Fisk’s task force. Bullseye’s bloodlust indirectly saves Cherry’s life as well, as the task force team sent to assassinate him inside the hospital gets killed off, allowing the private investigator to flee.

Fisk’s triggerman, Buck Cashman, suggests that Matt Murdock should be fully exposed as Daredevil to ensure that he’ll be hunted down regardless of whether he’s in costume or walking around unmasked, but Fisk knows that’s a dicey proposition, given how Matt saved his life from Bullseye in full view of the public.

So instead, Fisk makes a public video thanking Murdock for his actions and pretends to be worried about the absconding lawyer’s safety, urging the citizens of New York to find him and make sure he’s okay. Matt has to begrudgingly acknowledge the genius of Fisk’s move, because now he’ll be hunted down by both the anti-vigilante people who despise his Daredevil identity and his own supporters who don’t realize what Fisk is really up to.

B.B. Urich continues her work as a double agent propagandist, praising him on her “official” show while covertly filming a series of anti-Fisk videos designed to expose him for the corrupt charlatan he truly is. This threatens to put her relationship with Fisk’s lackey and her inside man, Daniel Blake, in jeopardy, as he’s being pressured to find out who’s behind these videos, and he suspects BB might be involved in their dissemination.

A Sham Trial And A Prison Break

Episode three of Daredevil Born Again’s second season focuses on a trial for Jack Duquesne, aka The Swordsman, with it patently obvious to everyone involved that the entire affair is a sham, blatantly rigged in favor of the prosecution. Despite her best efforts, Jack’s defense attorney, Kirsten McDuffie, fails to prevent him from being declared guilty.

However, Jack does escape Fisk’s clutches by other means when Daredevil makes his move against the Kingpin by raiding his Red Hook warehouse to recover the illicit weapons shipment stashed there before it gets smuggled out. However, when Matt realizes that Fisk’s task force is using the warehouse as their own prison complex, Matt changes his plans and busts them all out, with the help of both Jack himself and Angela del Toro, daughter of Hector Ayala, who has taken matters into her own hands after her own mother was arrested.

Despite the Anti-Vigilante Task Force being more than willing to gun down the escaped prisoners, Matt and Karen buy everyone enough time to flee the scene in one of the task force’s own armored vehicles, and the task force is unable to chase after them due to Angela slashing the tires of their vehicles during the shootout.

Matt’s decision to leave the weapons shipment alone backfires in short order, however, as Fisk turns the situation in his favor by blowing up his salvage crew and setting the Northern Star ablaze. Matt can only look on in horror as he realizes that Fisk is willing to cross any and every line in order to maintain his hold on the city. Who knows just how much lower Fisk will sink from here?
