Behind every great business is a partnership. Is that always true though? When you think about the great businesses like Apple, Microsoft, and others – you know Bill Gates, you know Steve Jobs and yes they had partners – but did they need to? The truth is, with the tools and technologies available today, entrepreneurs are poised to build billion dollar brands with little resources. A single creator can now reach millions of people online, build a loyal audience, launch products, and create an entire business without ever stepping into a boardroom or raising outside capital.

So when it comes to the owner of the largest watch YouTube business, Teddy Baldassarre, it makes you wonder what path he chose. So today we tackle the question; Does Teddy Baldassarre have a business partner?

Teddy is the sole founder of a company in his name. He started the business in his childhood bedroom clicking a record on a video camera to talk about his watch collection. Like countless YouTube creators in the early days, there was no guarantee anyone would watch. There was no production team, no expensive equipment, and no roadmap showing how a passion for watches could eventually become a thriving company. From there, things naturally grew with his first video gaining over 20,000 views – he knew there was something that could be done.

Instead of treating the early success as luck, Teddy kept producing videos consistently. Every upload helped him better understand what viewers were interested in, how to explain complicated watch topics, and how to build trust with an audience that continued to grow. Over time, the channel evolved from simple watch discussions into reviews, buying guides, educational content, and interviews that attracted both new enthusiasts and seasoned collectors.

While typical entrepreneurs raise money to build a business, Teddy didn’t. He bootstraped his way by himself, building his brand day by day, upload by upload. He purchased his first camera, laptop, and saved up money to slowly reinvest into the brand. Every dollar the business generated was an opportunity to improve production quality, purchase better equipment, and create even stronger content. Rather than chasing rapid growth through outside funding, he focused on growth that the business could support on its own.

That approach also gave him something many founders eventually give up: complete control. Without outside investors or equity partners, Teddy was able to make long-term decisions based on where he wanted to take the brand instead of answering to a board or outside shareholders. As the audience continued to expand, so did the opportunities available to the business.

Eventually he landed an opportunity to collaborate with Kevin O Leary, which caused many to speculate if Kevin O’Leary invested and partnered with Teddy on his business.

Is that true? No. Teddy turned down any investment because he believed in the power of his own channel and maintaining autonomy in an industry typically dominated by established retailers. While appearing alongside a well-known entrepreneur naturally fueled rumors of a business relationship, the collaboration never translated into shared ownership or equity.

By 2021, Teddy had launched a full fledged e-commerce store offering brands on his website which his viewers could purchase. By then, as a distributor Teddy was essentially partnered with the brands to sell them to his audience, but not as an official owner. His relationships with watch manufacturers allowed him to expand beyond content creation and into retail, but those were commercial partnerships rather than ownership partnerships. By not taking on capital, Teddy was able to maintain autonomy and by the end of 2022 was proven to be majorly successful.

As the retail side of the business grew, many people assumed there had to be investors involved behind the scenes. Launching an online authorized dealer business requires inventory, operations, customer support, and significant infrastructure. Despite those assumptions, the company remained independently founded and operated under Teddy’s ownership rather than being backed by venture capital or private equity.

Then Teddy launched a brick and mortar store. That is an expensive project, and he considered taking on capital and bringing on a business partner to help fund this expansion. Instead built the store without outside help or funding and continued to expand the business. Opening a physical retail location represented one of the biggest financial commitments in the company’s history, yet he stayed committed to the same philosophy that had guided the business from the beginning: grow at a pace that allows you to maintain ownership and control.

Just a few years later he expanded the store again. All in all, Teddy has scaled the Teddy Baldassarre business as founder and CEO year over year by focusing on engaging content, and bringing on the right brands to serve its clients. While the business works closely with luxury watch manufacturers, suppliers, and employees across multiple departments, there has never been a co-founder or business partner sharing ownership of the company itself. Teddy Baldassarre remains a founder-led business, built through consistent content creation, careful reinvestment, and a long-term commitment to growing independently.
