According to reports, the movie’s Thursday previews collection is more than Thunderbolts and on par with Captain America: Brave New World, Dune 2, and Project Hail Mary’s $12 million. It is the 5th biggest Thursday previews for Memorial Day releases. Also, Jon Favreau’s film has recorded the lowest preview collection for a Star Wars film under Disney, even below Solo: A Star Wars Story’s $14.1 million.

It is reportedly trying to defy the industry’s projections at the box office in North America on its opening weekend.

According to industry experts, Jon Favreau‘s Star Wars movie is now tracking to earn between $75 million and $85 million on its opening weekend at the box office in North America. It could change depending on how strong the word of mouth is. It is, however, sure to land at #1 in the domestic box office rankings.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is the first Star Wars film in seven years to receive an A- on CinemaScore, a strong rating for PG-13 films. It is on par with The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, and Solo. The film by Jon Favreau follows bounty hunter Mandalorian Din Djarin and his apprentice as they embark on an exciting new Star Wars adventure. Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu was released on May 22.
