The 40-year-old actor spilled the beans in Variety’s Actors on Actors series with Taraji P. Henson, confessing to an audition disaster that still haunts him. And yep, it involved singing. It turns out Reynolds’ voice wasn’t exactly hitting the right notes or any notes.
Reynolds admitted he’s “never been a great auditioner,” but this one? Oh, it’s a whole other level. “I’m a nervous singer,” he revealed, explaining how his vocal swagger only comes alive in the shower. “You know when you’re in there, and you’re like, ‘This is pretty good’? Then you step out into the real world, and my voice is like a hammer slamming everyone in the face.” Oof.
Things went from bad to worse when he auditioned for a movie that required singing. “It was pretty bad,” Ryan Reynolds admitted. “I look back and think, ‘What if that tape surfaces at some point? Reynolds painted a hilarious picture of the experience, joking, “It wasn’t the right fit, mostly because they’re very high class.
