Veteran actor Govardhan Asrani, popularly referred to as Asrani, breathed his last on Monday. He was 84 and passed away following a prolonged illness. Due to age-related ailments, he had to be hospitalised for five days due to age-related ailments. Asrani was born into a middle-class Sindhi family on January 1, 1940, in Jaipur. His father owned a carpet shop, but Asrani had zilch interest in the family business. After completing his early education at St. Xavier’s School, Asrani finished graduation from Rajasthan College, Jaipur. He also worked as a voice artist at All India Radio in Jaipur. From 1960 to 1962, Asrani had also undergone training in acting from Sahitya Kalbhai Thakkar. Later, he decided to join the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, in 1964.
