    The Summer I Turned Pretty

Amazon Prime’s The Summer I Turned Pretty has released its finale. We know just how many questions there are to begin with, as it features a love triangle between two Fisher brothers and Belly. This is the final season of the show, which features an ensemble of young cast members like Christopher Briney, Lola Tung, and Gavin Casablanca in key roles. The show is written and some episodes are directed by Jenny Han, and it’s adapted from Jenny Han’s very popular The Summer I Turned Pretty book trilogy. If you’re still not following the show, let me give you eight reasons why you absolutely should.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is your ultimate summer show

Who doesn’t love a show that reminds you of a season? Remember who fall belongs to? Rory is smiling somewhere. Similarly, summer is owned by the Fisher boys and Cousin Beach, and for all the right reasons. It fills you up with very warm, lovely, and cosy vibes, which are perfect for relaxing after a hard day.

Love triangle and the brothers’ arch

Love triangles are popular for a reason, and it’s super popular and loved when it’s between two brothers and the main character. Whether it’s the Salvatore brothers, the Mikaelsons, or the one going on between the Walter boys currently, this show gives you the perfect love triangle to obsess over and pick sides over. You can be Team Jeremiah or Team Conrad, but you cannot not pick a side once you’re in; it’s that fun.

    Emotional depth of the characters

The emotional depth of the characters, the situations they deal with, and the comforting atmosphere it brings to you is worth getting a little angry at Belly for her confusing choices. It deals with complex emotions, young people figuring out life as it comes, completely messy, and it serves us with a relatable palette of emotions.

    Development of the characters

If you’re someone who enjoys the character development of characters and story in a show, you’ll love this one. Three seasons in, and you’ll see growth in style, maturity, and life. You’ll see the characters outgrow different versions of themselves. Even by the end, you’ll see Belly shedding a version of herself and finding herself in Paris, just like we all want to at least once in our lives.

    Love, heartbreak, and growing up

The themes of the show aren’t just relatable to one sect of the audience; everyone can find something for themselves. You have the younger cast tackling the verge of adulthood, friendships, and complex love stories, while at the same time, you have families trying to be families, and then adult friendships, marriages, and health issues. It deals with a lot, and you find something to latch onto and root for by the end.

Taylor Swift, Easter eggs, and good music

The show’s budget for the songs is insane, that’s for sure. From the classic Taylor Swift references in the show from Season 1 to Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and more, the show features a vast range of artists. It gets you all excited and curious about which lyrics fit the best, and the Easter eggs get you all Sherlock Holmes to find out what cue fits where.

    Conrad and Belly’s endgame

Yes, we are biased. After three insane seasons of will-they-won’t-they? Conrad’s yearning, Belly’s confusion, and their insane chemistry, the endgame is what all of us deserve. Their time in Paris, the proposal, the infinity necklace, and the letters – we deserve to see the endgame that all of us have been rooting for.
