In one of her movies, Smita Patil was slapped without her consent by her co-star, a legendary actor. The actress was taken aback and felt insulted. So who is the co-star and which movie is it? Well, the movie is Bhumika and the co-star we are talking about is Amol Palekar. The duo worked together in the movie Bhumika.
In an interview with The Lallantop, Amol Palekar revealed that director Shyam Benegal told him to slap Smita without informing her. The actor refused, but the filmmaker insisted. Palekar said how he was shattered and it is something he has never done in his life. Despite not feeling right about it, Amol did what the director asked him to.
Further in this entertainment news, Amol revealed how Smita Patil was in disbelief when he slapped her without her consent during the scene. “She couldn’t believe that I just slapped her; she was aghast. She felt humiliated and angry. the camera kept rolling; it didn’t cut. The camera was capturing all her expressions. Not just the camera, even I was just staring at her, I forgot everything else, I didn’t know how to react. Looking at her facial expressions, I was feeling very uneasy,” revealed the actor.
The actor revealed that the incident brought him closer to the actress and they both had a breakdown later. Amol Palekar shared that when Shyam said cut, he first went to Patil and hugged her and apologised to her.
