South Korean actor Song Kang has officially finished his 18-month mandatory military service, reentering civilian life after his discharge from Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.
The popular South Korean star, Song Kang, has recently finished his mandatory military service and has been discharged from service. He served in the Army for a duration of 18 months. He enlisted in April 2024 and was discharged from his base in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, earlier today. Song Kang, who is widely recognized for his dedicated fan following and impressive work, completed his military service and returned to civilian life without any fanfare or ceremony. While serving, Song made a surprising appearance in a public campaign video by the Ministry of National Defence for the “Defence Help Call” program.
Moreover, his photos with BTS member V from their time in the military went viral on social media.
Even when Song Kang was enlisted, he continued to enjoy the success of his K-drama projects. He is set to return in the most anticipated Netflix K-drama Sweet Home Season 3, where he will reprise his role as Cha Hyun Soo. He also had a brief appearance in the film The Escape.
Now that he has completed his enlistment, the actor will focus back to his career as an actor. Earlier this year, his agency, Namoo Actors, announced that he is considering a role in the upcoming drama “Four Hands,” which targets a youth audience and is set in an arts high school. However, an official update is still pending. Song Kang is best known for his performance in the 2017 K-drama, The Liar and His Lover. Since then, he has established a reputation for emotionally impactful roles in popular shows like Love Alarm, Nevertheless, My Demon, and the Sweet Home series.
He has solidified his position as one of Netflix Korea’s leading male actors.
