The big reveal of Nathan not being Nathan but an imposter instead opened up a lot of doors for drama. Ryan Paevey played Nathan from 2013 to 2018 until the character died. In 2025, he returned as Nathan, but a big twist was awaiting as the writers hinted at something being distinctly odd about him.

Fans were sure there was something off with the back-from-dead Nathan, and it was recently revealed that Nathan is still dead, and this is Cassius Faison, Nathan’s twin brother. The revelation has intrigued viewers who do not know what to make of it. Here’s what Ryan shared about this change.

During a conversation with Soap Opera Digest, he revealed that Cassius was the role he returned to play. He stated that when he asked whether they wanted him to sprinkle a little Cassius, they said to wait until the truth came out. And now he will actively portray Cassius on the soap.

“The transition is that there is a group of people on the canvas that know who I am and a group of people from whom I’m still trying to hide my identity,” the actor shared. In the coming few weeks, fans will get to know Cassius even more, and some of the facts will be “less than savory.”

“It’s been cool to get to do something new. It’s definitely a little interesting right out of the gate,” Ryan mused about getting the chance to play not just a new role but also a fake version while he impersonated Nathan. “Cassius is basically Nathan turned on his heels,” the star differentiated the two.

He continued, “Nathan’s upbringing and Cassius’s upbringing were wildly different. Nathan had a family. He grew up to be a good man. He took care of his people,” while Cassius “did not grow up in a warm and loving family” and was “never really been loved or appreciated” like Nathan used to be.

While impersonating Nathan, Cassius got a glimpse into a life full of people who love him and care about him. What started as “a means to an end” has now gotten Cassius attached to not just the life and what it offers but also some people like his new girlfriend Lulu and Nathan’s son James.

The way people treat him because they think he is Nathan makes Cassius feel like he wants to keep the act going for as long as he can. Because this life is better and he doesn’t know this will remain when people find out he is not Nathan.“ ”He only gets to keep them if the secret holds,” Ryan stated.
