Rishabh Shetty’s film Kaantara: Chapter 1 is performing exceptionally well at the box office. The film had a strong opening weekend, impressing audiences with its powerful story, stunning cinematography, and folklore-based presentation. As the film entered the weekend, its earnings saw a slight decline. Initial estimates of the film’s earnings were released on Tuesday. According to trade analyst Sacnilk, the film earned approximately Rs 3.89 crore from morning shows on its sixth day. The film had a strong opening, earning Rs 61.85 crore on its first day. This was followed by Rs 45.4 crore on Friday, Rs 55 crore on Saturday, and Rs 63 crore on Sunday. The film saw a slight decline on Monday, earning Rs 31.25 crore. Combined, the total earnings of Kantara: Chapter 1 in India have reached Rs 260.39 crore. The film continues to maintain its strong hold in its second week.
Kaantara: Chapter 1 theatre occupancy and audience response
The film has been released in multiple languages across the country and is receiving widespread audience response in all languages. According to Tuesday’s morning show, Kannada attracted the highest audience attendance at 56.74%, followed by Telugu at 18.62%, Hindi at 13.25%, Tamil at 25.91%, and Malayalam at 18.74%. This indicates that the film’s popularity is not limited to Karnataka, but is receiving a strong response across South India.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 superhit film Kantara. The story revolves around the Kadamba dynasty, when the coastal region of South India was steeped in its folklore and traditions of gods and goddesses. The film beautifully depicts the traditions, beliefs, and tribal life of the Bhuta Kola tribe. Rishabh Shetty plays Barme, a warrior of the Kantara tribe who worships the nature and protective spirits Panjurli and Guliga. Gulshan Devaiah plays Prince Kulasekhar, while Rukmini Vasanth plays Princess Kanakavati, Kulasekhar’s sister and Barme’s lover. Released on October 2nd, the film has become a topic of discussion not only in Karnataka but across the country.
