    Rukmini Vasanth is a rising star in India’s film industry. She’s getting a lot of praise for her performance in Kantara: Chapter 1. The actress, who first gained attention through her work in the Sapta Sagaradaache Ello series, is today one of the most admired young talents of Indian cinema.

    Directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 gained a lot of success. The film has already collected Rs. 200 crore in its extended first weekend. The film was released on Dusshera, alongside Varun Dhawan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.

    Earlier in 2025, Rukmini also made her debut in the Tamil film industry. She worked in Madharaasi, where she was cast opposite Sivakarthikeyan. With Madharaasi, Rukmini marked her entry into yet another major South Indian film industry.

    Recently, after the huge success of Kantara: Chapter 1, Rukmini gained the tag of ‘national crush’ from her fans. This tag has been given to actresses like Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri before as well. Upon getting the tag, she offered a very calm and thoughtful response.

    As a response, she said, “Being called a ‘crush’ is flattering, but I don’t think much about it.” According to her, adulation like this keeps changing. She instead focuses on trying to keep her performances honest and roles meaningful.

    Rukmini mentioned that fans still call her Priya, the name of her character in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello. She then revealed that she was unsure about how fans would react to her role. According to Rukmini, she was surprised to see the audiences love such a simple and down-to-earth character.
