Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has lived up to every bit of the hype surrounding it. Ever since the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara was announced, fans across India have been eagerly waiting and now, the film is delivering big time at the box office. Released in multiple languages including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Bengali, Kantara Chapter 1 has drawn massive crowds everywhere.
Box Office Collection So Far
According to trade portal Sacnilk, the film opened to a thunderous start, earning ₹61.85 crore on Day 1. It made ₹46 crore on Day 2, followed by ₹55.25 crore on Day 3. By the end of its first weekend, the movie had crossed the ₹150 crore mark. By Sunday evening (Day 4), the film collected another ₹50.37 crore, bringing its total to an estimated ₹212.62 crore in India. These figures are still being updated, but the message is clear Kantara Chapter 1 is a smash hit.
Budget and Worldwide Earnings
As per reports, the film was made on a budget of around ₹125 crore. In just four days, it has already grossed over ₹235 crore worldwide nearly double its production cost officially making it a blockbuster.
Record-Breaking Run Across Different Industries
Rishab Shetty’s epic has been rewriting box office records across several regional film industries: Kannada Cinema: Second highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025 (₹326.53 crore), Telugu Cinema: Has surpassed Sankranti Ki Vastunam (₹186.7 crore), Tamil Cinema: Outperformed 9 of the top 10 highest-grossing Tamil films, Malayalam Cinema: Surpassed major hits like Loka Chapter 1 and Thudaram, Bollywood: Intrestingly, the film has beaten big titles like Sikandar, Sitare Zameen Par, War 2, and Housefull 5, trailing only behind Chhava and Saiyara.
