On his birthday, superstar Prabhas gave his fans an exciting gift — the official release date for his upcoming film The Raja Saab along with a striking new poster. The action-packed movie is now set to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, making it a perfect start to the new year for movie lovers.Prabhas shared the poster on Instagram, writing, “See you all in theatres on January 9th, 2026… #TheRajaSaab.” Fans flooded the comments with birthday wishes and excitement for the film. One fan called him “rebelgod” and wished him a long life, while others showered him with love.
What to Expect from the Trailer
The trailer opens with Prabhas sitting in a hypnotist’s office as the classic song Koi Yahan Nache Nache plays in the background. He’s shocked by strange visions of creepy creatures and a haunted mansion. Sanjay Dutt’s character is introduced by Boman Irani as an “exorcist, psychiatrist, and hypnotist.” Prabhas’s character prepares to face him, even throwing in a funny Star Wars reference. The trailer ends with a glimpse of Prabhas’s older look, hinting he also plays the evil grandfather, with Zareena Wahab as the grandmother.
Release Plans
Producer TG Vishwa Prasad revealed that the film’s January release aligns with the Sankranti festival, a popular time for big movie launches. Though some Bollywood distributors want the movie out on December 5, 2025, the makers prefer January to ensure the film is polished. There are still a few songs and minor edits left before the final cut.
About ‘The Raja Saab’
Directed and written by Maruthi, The Raja Saab is produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment. Though announced in January 2024, filming started way back in October 2022.
Prabhas plays dual roles, a grandson and his ghostly grandfather. The story revolves around a young man trying to claim his ancestral property, all set against the backdrop of an old cinema theater.
The film stars Malavika Mohanan, making her Telugu debut, along with Nidhhi Agerwal and Riddhi Kumar as the three lead actresses. Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani also play key roles, and Nayanthara appears in a special song. Before finalizing the lead actresses, other stars like Raashii Khanna and Sreeleela were considered.
This movie marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and director Maruthi, who called working with the star a ‘golden opportunity.’ Despite juggling big projects like Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD, Prabhas was excited to be part of this horror-comedy adventure.
Fans can look forward to an entertaining blend of action, comedy, and a touch of the supernatural when The Raja Saab hits theaters early next year.
