One Battle After Another is in its second week of theatrical release and has already become Paul Thomas Anderson’s first film to cross $100 million in worldwide earnings. Previously, the director’s highest-grossing film was the 2007 epic period drama, There Will Be Blood. The widely acclaimed action thriller, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has collected $42.7 million in North America and an additional $58.9 million from international markets, bringing its current worldwide total to $101.6 million, per Box Office Mojo.

Made on an estimated budget of $140 million (The Numbers), the film still needs to earn around $248.3 million more to reach its break-even point of $350 million at the box office, based on the 2.5x multiplier rule. Whether it will reach this target during its ongoing theatrical run remains to be seen.

That said, One Battle After Another has achieved another milestone as it has already surpassed the global earnings of the BAFTA-winning film starring Cate Blanchett and directed by Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur – the 1998 British historical drama Elizabeth.

One Battle After Another vs. Elizabeth – Box Office Comparison

Here’s how the two films compare at the global box office, according to data from Box Office Mojo:

One Battle After Another – Box Office Summary

    • Domestic: $42.7 million
    • International: $58.9 million
    • Worldwide: $101.6 million

    Elizabeth – Box Office Summary

    • Domestic: $30 million
    • International: $52 million
    • Worldwide: $82 million

As you can see, One Battle After Another has already outgrossed Elizabeth in worldwide earnings by $19.6 million, and the gap will widen further in the coming days.

One Battle After Another Set To Overtake Two Popular 2025 Hollywood Films

Even before crossing the coveted $100 million mark globally, One Battle After Another had already outgrossed several 2025 releases, including Materialists, A Working Man, The Monkey, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Now, the Paul Thomas Anderson action thriller is poised to surpass two other popular Hollywood films of the year – The Naked Gun and The Accountant 2. Currently, One Battle After Another trails The Naked Gun by roughly $0.5 million and The Accountant 2 by around $1.5 million. Given its strong momentum, it’s expected to reach both milestones very soon.

What Is One Battle After Another About?

Inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel Vineland, One Battle After Another follows Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio), a former member of the revolutionary group French 75. His life is thrown into chaos when his daughter goes missing, and a dangerous enemy from his past resurfaces after sixteen years. The film also stars Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti in pivotal roles.
