“One summer can change everything,” Prime Video teases in the official trailer for the upcoming film, The Last Sunrise.

Maia Reficco and Fernando Lindez star in the film adaptation of Anna Todd’s bestseller of the same name about a college student with a chronic illness having a summer adventure in Mallorca with her mother (Eva Longoria).

“As she unexpectedly falls for Julián (Lindez) and begins to embrace living in the moment, her worsening condition and long-hidden family secrets threaten to unravel everything before the summer ends,” the synopsis reads.

Throughout the trailer, Reficco’s Ry and Lindez’s Julián are seen falling in love but tensions soon begin to disrupt what seems like the perfect summer, especially with Ry’s mother looking to build a hotel in Mallorca for tourists.

“That’s the boy you’re seeing? A Garcia?,” Longoria asks in the trailer, with it later being revealed that given Julián and his family own “some of the most valuable docs on the island,” it prevents her business from being able to build her hotel unless they purchase them.

Carlson Young directs the film from a screenplay by Anna Klassen. Jennifer Gibgot, Lena Roklin, Andrew Panay and Brian Pitt produce. Todd also produces the film from Amazon MGM Studios Presents, an Ethea Entertainment, Pitt Street Productions, Luber Roklin Entertainment Production.

The film marks the newest adaptation from Todd, who is most recognized for the After series, which were adapted for feature films and has sold over twelve million copies worldwide.

Todd founded the entertainment company Frayed Pages Media in 2017 to produce innovative and creative work across film, television, and publishing. She served as a producer and screenwriter on the  After and After We Collided adaptations, and also produced on the film Regretting You, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestseller.

The Last Sunrise premieres on Prime Video August 26.
