Kim Petras wants out of Republic Records.

The pop star took to X on Tuesday, claiming the Universal Music Group record label won’t release her completed upcoming album Detour, further requesting Republic drop her from the roster.

“My album has been done for 6 months but my record label has refused to give me a release date or pay my collaborator’s for the work they’ve done,” Petras wrote Tuesday. “I’m tired of having no control over my own life or career. I want to continue to self fund and self curate my own music. This is why I have formally requested to be dropped by @RepublicRecords.”

A rep for Republic didn’t respond to request for comment.

Petras’ comments come about five years after she first signed with Republic back in 2021. Since then, she released the EP Slut Pop, and studio albums Feed the Beast and Problématique. In 2022, Petras had her biggest moment of her career thus far with her collaboration with Sam Smith on international hit “Unholy.” That song went double-platinum and went on to win the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance.

“I won a grammy 2 years ago…….. the music is TEA,” Petras wrote Tuesday, adding that she also self-funded a music video for a single, and that Republic won’t release that either. “Still no support If it’s not a tiktok trend or 80s revival queerbaiting shit these labels have no interest in supporting.”

Petras finished a slate of tweets by saying she’s “dropping Detour regardless.” So far at press time, it isn’t clear when that will be.
