Recently, some clarity emerged when National Award-winning actor Vikrant Massey revealed that Dostana 2 is his first Dharma Productions film. Lakshya remains involved in the film, but Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor are no longer part of it. When Vikrant was asked which actress would replace Janhvi in the lead role, he declined to comment, saying that an official announcement would be forthcoming. However, there are reports that Sreeleela may be added to the cast. A few months ago, a News18 report cited sources as saying that the story of Dostana 2 would remain the same, but the cast and director had been changed. “The story of Dostana 2 will remain the same but the cast and the director have been changed. Janhvi Kapoor, who was roped in to play the female lead earlier, is no longer a part of the film. Instead, the makers are considering Sreeleela for the part. Her dance number in Pushpa 2: The Rule has made her a much sought-after name in the movies. And the team of Dostana 2 are extremely keen on having her in the film,” as per News18 source.

According to sources, Sreeleela ‘s demand has increased significantly. She is currently busy shooting for Anurag Basu’s next film, starring Kartik Aaryan. The report also stated that the makers of Dostana 2 decided to recast the film to include actors who have not previously appeared on screen together. It will be interesting to see how the chemistry between Sreeleela and her co-stars works.
