Kamal Haasan‘s movie Thug Life directed by Mani Ratnam is set to release on June 5. There is a lot of buzz around the film as the actor is mired in a major controversy. His remark ‘Kannada is born out of Tamil’ led to major backlash. So much so that the movie may not release in Karnataka. The actor has refused to apologise for his remark stating that it was made out of love. Amid all of this, the advance ticket sales of the film are now open. As per reports, the movie has registered good numbers with advance ticket sales.

As reported by Sacnilk.com, the advance booking gross collection of Kamal Haasan‘s Thug Life is around Rs 3.4 crore as we write this story. With blocked seats, the number is around Rs 9.68 crore. It is definite that Thug Life will take a double digit opening at the box office. However, the advance ticket sales number has failed to beat films like Vikram and Indian 2. Reportedly, Kamal Haasan’s last film Indian 2 had registered an advance ticket sales of Rs 17.9 crore. On the other hand, his blockbuster hit film Vikram had done Rs 15.3 crore in advance ticket sales.

Currently, the Tamil 2D version of the show has sold the maximum number of tickets – 170765. The Hindi version has sold around 6483 tickets. The maximum collection is from state Tamil Nadu, i.e., Rs 6.48 crore.

As of now, Thug Life is reportedly not releasing in Karnataka. In a letter addressed to Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, the actor mentioned that his comment was misunderstood. It read, “It pains me that my statement at the Thug Life audio launch, spoken out of genuine affection for the legendary Dr Rajkumar’s family, especially Shiva Rajkumar has been misunderstood and taken out of context.” He further mentioned that his remark was only to assert that “we are all one, and from the same (linguistic) family.” The next hearing in this case is going to take place on June 10.
