Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi is one of the best Hindi movies that has been released in the past few years. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the actress was praised tremendously for her performance in the biographical drama. Alia even won the National Film Award for her performance in the 2022 movie. Just like many, Hollywood star Joseph Gordon-Levitt is also a fan of the movie. The actor, who is currently in India, couldn’t stop praising Bhatt’s film and even said it felt like watching a Martin Scorsese movie. Inception star Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in India for the IFP (initially known as India Film Project) Season 14. In an interaction with Rajkummar Rao, Joseph spoke about Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. The actor said that the movie was different than anything he had seen before. “It was this very heavy, distinguished drama that felt almost like a Scorsese movie at times. But then there are these gorgeous musical numbers that felt so sincere and well-rounded,” said the actor. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt’s movie Jigra released in theatres on Friday. Yet again, the actress is heavily praised for her powerful performance in the Vasan Bala movie. The movie also stars Vedang Raina and Manoj Pahwa in pivotal roles. The movie clashed with Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. On the other hand, after Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will collaborate again for Love & War. The romantic thriller also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. It is slated to hit theatres in 2026.
