John Mulaney has postponed a string of shows in Minneapolis amid the shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer on Wednesday.

The comedian took to Instagram to share the news, where he confirmed the show’s would be postponed and noted “what’s happening in your city is heartbreaking.”

“I hate to postpone shows in a town going through such awful challenges and such grief, because it feels unfair to the audience,” Mulaney continued. “Still, I don’t feel comfortable asking thousands of people each night to leave their homes, gather at the venue, and then make their way home when the situation is so unsafe.”

Mulaney was set to perform three shows in Minneapolis, with one on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as part of his Mister Whatever Tour. In his Instagram post, he confirmed that “Tickets for this weekend will be honored for their respective days of Friday through Sunday, April 10th, 11th and 12th.”

Good was shot and killed on Wednesday in her car by an ICE agent. In the days following, people in Minneapolis have been protesting the shooting, while President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to argue the ICE officer acted in self defense. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey slammed the argument that Good was shot out of self defense, calling the claims “garbage.”

“I am sorry to anyone who is disappointed,” Mulaney concluded in his post. “I know a fun stand-up show could be a nice distraction, but it doesn’t sit right with me to put anyone at risk.”
