Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor’s film Homebound released in theaters on September 26th. The film generated considerable buzz at international film festivals even before its release. It was also nominated for an Oscar. Several big stars recently attended a special screening. However, despite the film’s buzz and Oscar nomination, it performed poorly at the box office. Its opening day earnings surprised both the makers and fans. The story revolves around two friends who have been close friends since childhood and dream of joining the police force together. But as their recruitment journey begins, circumstances impact their friendship.

According to a report by Sacnilk, Homebound earned only Rs 30 lakh on its first day of release. This figure is significantly lower than Ishaan Khatter’s previous films. None of his films have had such a poor opening. Meanwhile, Vishal Jethwa’s Salaam Venky also earned Rs 45 lakh on its first day. This clearly indicates that the film had a poor opening at the box office.
Although the film was praised at film festivals, the Censor Board made significant changes before its release in India. A total of 11 cuts were made, including the removal of 77 seconds of video and an entire match sequence. Following these changes, the film has been given a U/A 16+ certificate. It remains to be seen whether the film’s earnings improve over the weekend or its box office performance remains the same.
