Kumar Sanu is back in controversy, and this time it is not for his music or some candid moment he might have shared. The singer is facing serious allegations from ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya. The two married each other in the late 1980s and opened up about their relationship issues and what she faced in that marriage. She shared that the most difficult time came when she was going through her third pregnancy and was pregnant with their third child, Jaan Kumar Sanu. She shared that after the success of Kumar Sanu ‘s *Aashiqui*, his behavior towards her completely changed. She said that not only was she treated badly, but she was also tortured even for food and medical help and was not given any sort of freedom. She also shared that during this time, Kumar Sanu had an affair but still dragged Rita to court, leaving her isolated and completely heartbroken.
Speaking about her past to the film window, Rita Bhattacharya opened up about the legal battle they had when she was pregnant. She said, “He took me to court during my pregnancy. He even had an affair during that time ; that came out today. And, he dragged me to court? I was very young at that time; I felt like my whole world was crushed, and my family was shocked. He did such a huge party a year ago, saying I was the reason behind his success.”
Rita was tortured during her third pregnancy. She shared the hardships and problems that she faced back then while carrying their third child. She said she was banned from stepping outside, denied permission to even visit beauty parlors, and was not allowed to maintain friendships. Makeup was also reportedly prohibited. Her only support at the time, she said, came from her sister-in-law.
“Ghar se jab bahar jaate toh kitchen ke shelves lock kar dete. Mujhe chawal khane ke liye bhabhi ke ghar jaana pada. I bought a handful of rice and then cooked khichdi at my sister-in-law’s home, and then we used to have food.”
Rita also made big claims that she was given very limited money and had difficulties even securing medical care. “Mujhe din ke Rs 100 dete the aur doctors ko bhi mana kar diya paise dene se. When I used to order baby food, toh the shopkeeper used to say ki nahi bhej sakta kyuki saab ne mana kiya hai, ” she also shared . Rita said that her court appearances with Kumar Sanu were marked by ridicule. “When I was pregnant with Jaan, I was not even fed properly and felt sick all the time,” she revealed that Kumar Sanu would often mock her in court in front of people.
Kumar Sanu’s affair with Kunickaa Sadanand and Rita’s outrage?
Kumar Sanu married Rita Bhattacharya in the 1980s. The couple had three children together before they ended in divorce. During the whole divorce ordeal, the singer was also dating actress Kunika Sadanand, who is currently a part of *Bigg Boss 19 *. The relationship was an extramarital affair. Kunika previously, in an interview, addressed her past relationship and remembered a traumatic incident when Rita once smashed her car with a hockey stick.
Kunika also once shared her first meeting with Kumar Sanu in Ooty. She was there for a shooting schedule, and he was there on vacation. She talked about the strong connection they felt, which later developed into a “strong bond.” She also shared that he was in a difficult marriage back then, he was so depressed, and she was the one who helped him. “He started crying, and he wanted to jump from the hotel’s window. He was very depressed. We held him down,” she also shared that “I was like a wife to him; I considered him like my husband,” the actress said.
