This story should come with a disclaimer or spoiler alert, something. Consider yourself warned.

In advance of the Venice Film Festival world premiere of Harmony Korine‘s newest big-screen experiment, Baby Invasion, press notes were distributed featuring an explainer of the film’s message. Maybe? We’re assuming the message will make more sense after having seen the film but feels worth sharing now as the film just hit the big-screen here on the Lido.

Described as an ultra-realistic, multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) game that plays as a surreal home invasion thriller, Baby Invasion follows a group of mercenaries using — you guessed it — baby faces as avatars to conceal their identities. Tasked with entering mansions of the rich and powerful and leaving nothing behind, players must explore every rabbit hole before time runs out. Baby Invasion hails from Korine’s multimedia design collective EDGLRD and features an original score by Burial. The creative effort follows his last release, Aggro Dr1ft, which also premiered in Venice.

    Read the press notes below.

Baby Invasion – A Message from Duck Mobb

We are Duck Mobb. We are the crew. Beware of the Pale Horse.
Duck Mobb rides. Clicked up. Mobbed up. We are streaming to you live – from across the pond, from across the cities, from the trap houses, favelas, and hoods worldwide. Cartels, hackers, hired killers, scammers, cons, ex-military, militants, gang-certified world leaders – we are all connected. We speak out against the power structures. And now, we stream our crimes directly to you, the viewer.

We cover our faces with baby avatars to avoid detection, and the image is strong. We are baby-faced assassins – cute and cuddly but deadly.
We distort our voices because, otherwise, we have no voice.
We are the underclass. Duck Mobb is not to be trusted.
We are not your friends. We will rob, steal, and take at will.

Nobody is safe. We are just the flickering light.
