The king of folk fusion and front singer of The Raghu Dixit Project, Raghu Dixit, is going to get married at the age of 50. His better half is going to be the 34-year-old Grammy-nominated singer and flautist Varijashree Venugopal. Raghu himself confirmed the news to Bengaluru Times, saying the wedding will take place at a family function at the end of this month. Their story is just like a musical melody, starting slowly from friendship and gradually turning into the rhythm of love.
Who is Raghu Dixit?
Raghu Dixit is not just a singer but also one of the most recognized faces in Indian indie music. His band, The Raghu Dixit Project, has gained recognition both nationally and internationally. He has also contributed several memorable songs to Kannada cinema, including hits like Mysore Se Aayi and Hey Bhagwan, which remain close to fans’ hearts. Raghu was previously married to choreographer and dancer Mayuri Upadhya in 2005.

Varijashree’s parents have also blessed the relationship, and now, the couple is set to start a new journey together.
Raghu Dixit’s past allegations
Raghu Dixit has faced serious sexual harassment allegations, for which he has publicly apologized. Singer Chinmayi Sripada had shared anonymous women’s allegations on Twitter, claiming that Dixit engaged in sexual harassment in his studio. One woman alleged that after a recording session, he pulled her close and asked for a kiss while signing a check, after which she ran away crying.
Raghu immediately issued a public apology, admitting that he had “completely misunderstood the situation.” He stated that he is not such a person. He also added that at that time, he was emotionally vulnerable due to issues with his wife, Mayuri Upadhya. Following this controversy, the India Film Project removed him from their program.
