He was swimming with his friends but was experiencing difficulty breathing. A friend then helped him to a raft.

The video further hurt the sentiments of his fans. Many offered prayers for his family. Initial reports stated that Zubeen Garg initially jumped into the sea wearing a life jacket, but later removed it because he was experiencing difficulty swimming. He then went swimming again without his jacket, and the accident occurred. This led people to believe he died while scuba diving.
What did Zubeen Garg’s wife Garima say?
However, the singer’s wife, Garima Saikia, clarified the real reason. She told the Times of India that her husband was on a yacht in Singapore with friends and team members. Everyone was wearing life jackets. However, Zubeen Garg’s death was not due to scuba diving, but rather due to a seizure while swimming. Garima explained that her husband had suffered seizures several times before, but he always recovered. This time, when the attack suddenly struck, team members tried to save him and he was immediately rushed to the hospital. He was kept in the ICU of Singapore General Hospital for about two hours, but could not be revived.
Following Zubeen Garg’s death, the Assam government declared a three-day state mourning. No official events, entertainment shows, or celebrations will be held during this period.
