The Emmy Awards will stay in their usual mid-September slot in 2026.
NBC, which is next up in the broadcast network rotation for the awards, announced Tuesday that it will air the 78th Primetime Emmys on Sept. 14, 2026 from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The awards will also live stream the theater’s namesake, NBC’s sibling streamer Peacock.
As is usually the case when NBC has its turn airing the Emmys, the awards will air on a Monday night rather than a Sunday so as not to interfere with the network’s Sunday Night Football commitment.
The Creative Arts Emmys will be held Sept. 5 and 6.
NBC hasn’t yet named a host or producing team for the Emmys. When the network last had the awards in 2022, Saturday Night Live mainstay Kenan Thompson served as host, and Done & Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment produced the telecast.
The Television Academy also hasn’t finalized its calendar for the coming Emmy season. If the academy follows its usual schedule, nominees will be announced in July, and shows that ran between June 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026 will be eligible for consideration.
After hitting an all-time ratings low with the delayed 2023 ceremony on Fox, the past two Emmy Awards have posted sizable audience gains. The 2025 ceremony, which aired on CBS, drew 7.59 million viewers who watched The Studio, The Pitt and Adolescence pick up the night’s top honors.
