Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD is doing wonders at the box office. The Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer has made more than Rs 1000 crore at the box office, according to the production company Vyjayanthi Movies. It’s a big feat for the team. Earlier, Nag took to his Instagram page to share his thoughts on the milestone his movie has achieved. However, in his now-deleted post, the filmmaker mentioned how they achieved it without any blood, gore, or obscenity. Is he taking a dig at Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal movie?

The caption written by Nag Ashwin reads, “This milestone…this number… is obviously massive for a young team like ours… but the fact that we achieved it without blood, gore, obscenity, provocative or exploitative content, means so much… a big thank you to the audience and the actors who stood behind us. Indian Cinema #repatikosam”. The caption nowhere mentions Animal movie. But people on the internet believe the Mahanti director has taken a jibe at the Ranbir starrer.
Netizens screenshotted the Kalki 2898 AD director’s Instagram story and criticised him for indirectly “slamming” Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 blockbuster Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. The Hindi film grabbed a lot of attention and has become a constant topic of discussion for its violence, bloody and gory scenes. One person tagged Nag Ashwin on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Budget is 4x times of Animal and have casting like Amitabh, Kamal Hassan, Deepika Padukone, Dulquer Salman etc etc and comparing yourself with Vanga who made blockbuster with just music screenplay and Ranbir Kapoor ? @nagashwin7 enduku ayya comparison.”

Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD ends on a major cliffhanger, and the sequel is confirmed. Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan will reprise their respective roles in the second part too. On the other hand, the Baahubali star is all set to work with Sandeep Reddy Vanga soon on a cop action thriller titled Spirit. In an earlier interview, the Kabir Singh director stated that his movie with Prabhas will have more violence than his previous films.
