A trio of actors have permission to come aboard Amazon MGM Studios‘ Chris Hemsworth-led submarine thriller Subversion.
Simone Kessell, Robert John Burke and David Wenham have joined the cast of director Patrick Vollrath’s forthcoming feature, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. They join previously announced castmembers Hemsworth, Lily James and Michael Peña.
Subversion centers on a formerly respected naval commander (Hemsworth) who is blackmailed into piloting a submarine loaded with illegal cargo across international waters. Adding to the conflict is a Coast Guard officer (James) in hot pursuit of the vessel.
Vollrath (7500) helms the movie from a script by Andrew Ferguson. Lorenzo di Bonaventura produces the project, while Stephen Shafer and Greg Cohen serve as executive producers for di Bonaventura Pictures.
Known for her role as Lottie on Showtime’s Yellowjackets, Kessell can soon be seen starring alongside Jason Clarke on the Apple TV+ drama series The Last Frontier. Her other previous credits include Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Night Agent and Our Flag Means Death. Kessell is represented by Buchwald, Sue Barnett and Associates and B-Side Management.
Burke’s recent credits include The Last of Us and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and he has a role in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s forthcoming Tom Cruise film that Warner Bros. releases next year. Burke is repped by Amplified and Innovative Artists.
Wenham’s feature credits include Elvis, Lion and the Lord of the Rings films, and he has appeared on the series Pieces of Her and Joe vs. Carole. Wenham is repped by Anonymous Content; Markham, Froggatt & Irwin; and Shanahan Management.
