The 2026 BET Awards were handed out Sunday night.

Some of the night’s winners included Cardi B with the best female Hip-Hop artist award, Kendrick Lamar with the best male Hip-Hop artist award, Teyana Taylor with the Fashion Vanguard Award, video director of the year and best actress awards, and Michael B. Jordan with the best actor award. Sinners also won the BET Award for best movie.

Leon Thomas also took home the best male R&B/pop artist award and Kehlani won the best female R&B/pop artist award, while Doechii and SZA also won the BET Her award for their song “girl, get up,” and Olivia Dean received the award for best new artist.

Later during the ceremony, Erica Campbell and Le’Andria Johnson came together for a special performance, paying tribute to music mogul Clive Davis, who died last week. After, several other artists — Raye, Ari Lennox, BJ the Chicago Kid, George Clinton and Durand Bernarr — performed together in a tribute to R&B icon D’Angelo, who died last year.

Hosted by comedian Druski, the BET Awards aired live at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on BET and other Paramount networks, including BET HER, CMT, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount, Pop, VH1, Comedy Central and TV Land.

Heading into the show, Cardi B led all nominees with six total mentions, followed by Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist with five apiece. Other top nominees included Doechii, Doja Cat, Clipse, Teyana Taylor, Olivia Dean and Latto.

This year, BET added two new categories: the Fashion Vanguard Award and the Pulse Award. The Fashion Vanguard Award “will recognize a global figure whose fashion presence has had long-standing cultural impact, has significantly influenced style narratives and continues to elevate fashion as a form of storytelling across music, film, sports and public life,” while the Pulse Award is given to “a creator, campaign or content series that most powerfully moved Black culture forward in digital spaces by sparking conversation, building community and defining the moment online.”

BET also handed out special awards to three honorees: Teyana Taylor received the Icon of the Year Award, legendary music executive Sylvia Rhone accepted the Ultimate Icon Award and Lauryn Hill received the Living Legend Icon Award.

Before accepting her award, Taylor was left sobbing when Janet Jackson surprised her to present the actress with the Icon of the Year Award. Taylor called the legendary singer her “biggest inspiration.”

“Everybody who knows me know how I feel about you, the fact that you even took up the time to be here to celebrate with me, this is crazy,” she said during her speech. “I love you so much. Like, you don’t even understand.”

Towards the end of the ceremony, a number of artists, including The War and Treaty, Tanya Blount, Doechii, SZA, Tems, Doja Cat, Nas, Lizzo, Rapsody, Queen Latifah and Hill’s children, performed a tribute to the rapper-singer before she accepted the Living Legend Icon Award.

Other performers throughout the night also included Cardi B, Common, Doechii, Don Toliver, French Montana and Max B, Jill Scott, Kehlani, Queen Latifah, Rick Ross, Tems, T.I., The War and Treaty, kwn, Alexia Jayy, Ari Lennox, Baby Keem, BJ the Chicago Kid, Durand Bernarr, Erica Campbell, George Clinton, Le’Andria Johnson, Nas, Rapsody, RAYE and BET Amplified artist Kenny Iko.
