Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan have shared the screen in several movies over the years, before she married Abhishek Bachchan. Some of the notable films where they appeared together include Sarkar Raj, Khakee, and Mohabbatein. The actress also had a special appearance in Bunty Aur Babli for the dance number Kajra Re, which featured both Amitabh and Abhishek. Their on-screen chemistry and off-screen bond as father-in-law and daughter-in-law have been admired by many. Before Aishwarya Rai Bachchan became a part of the Bachchan family, she and Amitabh Bachchan had already worked together in the film Kyun Ho Gaya Na, which was released in 2004. In this movie, Big played a special cameo role as Aishwarya’s uncle. During the film’s promotion, Amitabh humorously shared in an interview that he felt “a bit sad” about playing Aishwarya’s uncle. As reported by Rediff entertainment news site, Amitabh said, “It is a cameo! I play a man in charge of an orphanage. I also play Aishwarya’s uncle. I felt so bad about it! [laughs]. Bi B liked the fact that he was given a chance to interact with kids, which happened after Mr Natwarlal. However, playing an uncle to Aishwarya was “unbearable” for him. Amitabh Bachchan called her beautiful and revealed that Jaya Bachchan liked her in KHGN. He further stated, “I feel she needs to do more mature subjects now.” When asked if she is his favourite co-star, Big B responded, “All my co-stars are my favourites. You don’t have to take me to task because I like Ms. Rai. Who doesn’t? I get along with everybody. Those I don’t get along with, I do not work with. With her around, there is joy, laughter, fun, and a good working atmosphere.” Also Read – When Jaya Bachchan reacted to the possibility of Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha worked together again, ‘…it will go beyond work…’

Meanwhile, in 2007, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan tied the knot with Amitabh’s son, Abhishek Bachchan. The duo welcomed their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan in 2011. However, recently, there have been rumours that things are not well between the couple. There has been speculation that the couple is on the verge of divorce ever since they appeared separately for the Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding.
