Director Aditya Sarpotdar‘s film Munjya starring Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma in main roles has been breaking records at the box office. Well, the film has successfully managed to cross Rs 100 crore. The storyline of the film has impressed everyone. But, did you know Bollywood actresses Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor were also reportedly considered for the film? Yes, you read that right. Shraddha Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were to star in Munjya?

In a recent chat with The Indian Express, Aditya responded to the question and revealed that the film’s initial script was changed after he came on board. He said that Yogesh Chandekar, the writer of the film had seen this film as a female protagonist film where the conflict was that she was in love with her best friend who was a teenager. The director even added that it was that angle that was being brought into the narrative. He continued saying that when he came on board and read the script, he said that he did not identify with the social referencing in the film as he did not understand it. Aditya said that he saw the film about these two guys who are in a position in life, in the same space where they were in love with an older girl. He even said that the hero respected and looked at her in a very sensitive manner. He said that he wanted these two parallels together and thought people would understand it better if there were two guys in the same direction. He said that Dinesh Vijan and Yogesh agreed on the same. He even said that he quite sure about not casting an older man because love at first sight and the referencing with an older man gets awful.

Aditya quoted the reason on how Abhay was finalised for the role and said that he wanted a 19-year-old who feels he’s fallen for an elderly girl and the actor fitted the role perfectly. Talking about Munjya is based on a Maharashtrian folklore.
