Alan Cumming Invites Donald Trump to Compete on The Traitors at Emmys

The Traitors host Alan Cumming has a pitch for Donald Trump.

After accepting the Emmy on Sunday for best reality competition series on behalf of The Traitors, Cumming was asked backstage in the press room who he thinks should join the show.

“I’m sure our president would be very good on the show … having a lot of chaos and sort of turmoil and treachery, so maybe he’d like to come on and be paid for that, probably better than he gets as president,” the host responded.

The Traitors sees contestants living in a majestic castle, working as a team to complete a series of dramatic and challenging missions to earn money for the prize pot. Some contestants are loyal, but some are traitors.

While accepting the Emmy earlier in the night, Cumming acknowledged that “it’s a difficult time we live in, but it’s so great that our show brings a little bit of joy into this life.” He also showed appreciation for the series’ cast, crew and fans for their support.

While it’s unlikely Trump would compete on The Traitors while serving his second term in the White House, he’s no stranger to reality television, having been host and a producer on The Apprentice from 2004 to 2015.

As for the upcoming fourth season of the Cumming-hosted series, the cast includes Donna Kelce, former Housewives Lisa Rinna and Dorinda Medley, actors Ron Funches and Michael Rapaport, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Monét X Change, Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Ballas and Love Island USA‘s Rob Rausch, among others.

The 77th Emmy Awards, hosted by Nate Bargatze, aired live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 14. Check out all the red carpet arrivals and 2025 Emmy winners.
