Amid this, Aishwarya’s sister-in-law, Shrima Rai has been surrounded by controversy and trolls have been attacking her. Social media users dug out an old Instagram post by Shrima which had her husband Aditya Rai, their children, and Aditya and Aishwarya’s mother Brindya Rai.
Within no time, netizens slammed Shrima after knowing that she was related to Aishwarya Rai. A user wrote, ‘I never knew you were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s sister-in-law until your recent pictures.’ Shrima replied saying, ‘Good, I want you to see me for me’. Well, the conversation was taken out of context on Reddit and within no time, haters started accusing Shrima of not liking Aishwarya because she never posts about the actress or her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, on social media.
A look at Shrima Rai’s conversation
Shrima shared a screenshot of a direct message from the original context from a user wherein the person apologized as the message read, ‘I’m extremely sorry, Shrima, if I have hurt you in any way. My comment was just a sudden reaction on knowing that you guys are related. But media has really added up so much masala, and my comment has been shown in the wrong way. Why would I accuse anyone of anything? It’s your life, and it’s completely up to you what to post and what not to. Many respects their privacy and keeps their personal life in private. I respect and adore you a lot. You have your own identity, and I respect that. Best wishes for you always.’ Shrima replied aying, ‘It’s not your fault’.
Shrima also issued a statement clarifying her position as she addressed the rumours. She wrote, ‘Facts. My birthday was November 21, and as usual, flowers were sent. I thanked everyone with a shout-out. Before I became a blogger/content creator, I was a banker in Wealth Management for several years. I have also been a Gladrags Mrs. India Globe 2009. Post-2017, I transitioned into blogging. I have NEVER tried to open any business with anyone’s name. I am clarifying things because these are facts. I have built an independent career as a content creator for years on my own, and as a woman, I find it in poor taste for anyone to try to tear that fact down. For this, my husband, mother-in-law, and parents can vouch. As a mother, it is extremely important to me that facts are clear when my name is involved’.
The speculations about Shrima’s not-good relationship with Aishwarya went viral during a time when the entire family is already battling rumours. Aishwarya and Abhishek’s alleged separation news after attending a wedding separately made netizens gossip more. Abhishek Bachchan also liked a post on grey divorce which read, ‘Couples who have been married for long are now parting ways. What has prompted their decision, and why are grey divorces on the rise?’.
