Toby Byrne has been named president of ad sales at A+E Networks, as longtime leader Peter Olsen retires.
Olsen is retiring after 20 years in the role, during which he has reshaped A+E Networks’ ad sales strategy and led the company toward data-driven, multi-platform advertising. Byrne will assume the role in February 2025.

Byrne joined A+E Networks as executive vice president of ad sales in January 2024. In the new role, he now oversee all ad sales operations across A+E’s portfolio, including The History Channel, A&E, Lifetime, and their digital platforms.

Byrne had previously worked as president of advertising sales at Fox Networks Group, where he brought together the advertising teams across Fox Broadcasting, Fox Sports, FX Networks and National Geographic Channels and led ad sales strategies across entertainment and sports, including the NFL, MLB and FIFA Women’s World Cup. Before joining Fox Networks Group, Byrne was president at Zefr, which provides brand suitability targeting and measurement on platforms including YouTube, Meta and TikTok.
Byrne holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in History from Georgetown University, where he graduated cum laude.
