Disney+ has set a launch date for the second season of A Shop for Killers, one of its biggest Korean streaming hits. The slick assassin thriller will bow on July 22, picking up with Jeong Ji-an (Kim Hye-jun) installed as the new head of Murthehelp, the online storefront that secretly arms killers, and her uncle Jeong Jin-man (Lee Dong-wook), who faked his death in the first season to flush out his enemies, back at her side.

Together they will go on the offensive against Babylon, the mercenary outfit that hunted Ji-an through the first season.

But Babylon is also regrouping by importing a fresh wave of assassins from overseas — two of them played by Japanese stars new to the cast: Hyunri (Pachinko) as the team leader Q, and Masaki Okada (Drive My Car) as the mercenary J.

Lee Kwon, who directed the first season, which was well regarded by global critics, has returned to direct and co-wrote the new batch of episodes with Ji Ho-jin.

A Shop for Killers ranked as Disney+’s most-watched Asia Pacific original of 2024, until the Korean series Light Shop overtook it that December. The new season runs eight episodes, premiering with two on July 22 and adding a pair each Wednesday through the August 12 finale.

The series is part of a run of K-drama second seasons Disney+ has in the works this year. Made in Korea, the 1970s crime drama led by Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung, returns for a second season in the second half of the year, and a follow-up to the 2023 superhero hit Moving is in production. The streamer has also greenlit a high-profile Korean remake of the hit FX series The Americans, with local A-list stars Lee Byung-hun and Han Ji-min set to play a North Korean spy couple undercover in Seoul.

A Shop for Killers streams on Disney+ internationally and on Hulu in the U.S.
