Bhooth Bangla is set to emerge as a much-needed success for Akshay Kumar at the Indian box office. On its second Friday, day 8, the film has made a smooth entry into the 100 crore club (net collections), making it his 20th film to do so. What is Koimoi Star Ranking?
For the unversed, in Koimoi’s Star Power Index, aka Star Ranking, actors are allotted points based on their films (Bollywood/Hindi) in the coveted box-office clubs (based on Indian collections only), such as the 100 crore club, 200 crore club, and more. For example, 100 points are given for a film in the 100 crore club, and so on. 50 points each are given for a film in the top 10 overseas grossers of Bollywood.
Akshay Kumar benefits from Bhooth Bangla
Before the release of Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar had 2200 points to his credit. Now that Bhooth Bangla has scored a century at the Indian box office, the superstar has gained 100 points, bringing his tally to 2300. With this increment, there’s no change in Akshay’s position in the Star Ranking, and he remains at fourth. However, the margin between him and Shah Rukh Khan has decreased.
Can Akshay beat Shah Rukh Khan in Koimoi Star Ranking?
Currently, Shah Rukh Khan is in third place in the Koimoi Star Ranking with 2350 points. If a comparison is made, Akshay Kumar is only 50 points away from Shah Rukh. Akshay has a chance of surpassing Shah Rukh if Bhooth Bangla enters the 200 crore club at the Indian box office, which will push Akshay’s tally to 2400 points. However, since the film is unlikely to score a double century, he’ll have to wait a while to beat Shah Rukh.
