Bihar Election 2025: VIP chief Mukesh Sahani may not be contesting the forthcoming Bihar Elections 2025 himself, but he has been named by the INDIA bloc as the Deputy CM candidate. Going by the crucial demographic of voters he draws, Mukesh Sahani is not a random pick. According to a report by the Indian Express, Sahani’s entered politics later in his life. Mukesh Sahani is a school dropout who managed to study only up to Class 8, but always wanted a career in Bollywood. He was 19 when he left Supaul Bazar in Darbhanga and shifted to Mumbai. After starting his journey as a salesman, he entered the showbiz industry as a set designer. His company, Mukesh Cine World Private Limited, was linked with several crucial films like Devdas (2002) starring Shah Rukh Khan and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) featuring Salman Khan.

It was only due to these movie connections, that Mukesh Sahani gained massive publicity at home. Years ago, in 2008, when he organised Chhath celebrations on a massive scale, people reportedly motivated him to do more similar things for his community. This further encouraged him to begin Sahani Samaj Kalyan Sanstha in 2010. This was where he managed to hold meetings and bring in large crowds.

What is the benefit of roping in Mukesh Sahani?

Mukesh Sahani, besides leading the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), is also a prominent leader in Bihar because of the influence he enjoys among the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), the Nishad community – to be more precise. For the unversed, the EBCs amount to 30% of Bihar’s voters. Within this group, the Nishad community amount to 9.6% of the state’s total population. This was stated by the 2023 Bihar caste survey. According to the same report, Sahani’s Mallah sub-group accounts for 2.6%.
