Fans of the Star Plus show Ishaani, starring Megha Chakraborty and Karamm S Rajpal, may be in for some really disappointing news. According to some industry sources, the show is likely to go off air later this month due to low TRP ratings.
Despite its promising and fresh concept and strong performances from the lead pair, Ishaani reportedly struggled to connect with a wider audience. A source close to the production revealed, “The team has been informed that the shoot will wrap up around mid-October.” While there hasn’t been an official confirmation yet from the makers or the channel, it appears that internal discussions about ending the show are already underway.
The show, which premiered earlier this year, was initially positioned as a socially relevant drama focusing on women’s empowerment and societal expectations. A spin-off of Jhanak, it followed Ishaani (Megha Chakraborty) a strong and principled woman fighting for justice in her community. Karamm S Rajpal played her love interest, adding a romantic touch to the storyline.
However, despite the Strong buzz around its launch and the popularity of both actors, Ishaani could not maintain consistent viewership. The show faced tough competition from other primetime dramas, and many viewers found its story pacing uneven.
Both Megha and Karamm have loyal fan bases from their earlier shows Imlie and Qurbaan Hua, respectively and fans had high expectations for their pairing. But currently the lack of engaging plot twists may have contributed to its decline.
As per reports, the cast and crew are now filming the final episodes, and the show’s story is expected to wrap up with a fast-tracked ending. Fans are now waiting for an official announcement from Star Plus about the show’s conclusion.
