Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) shocked the British TV industry on Thursday, unveiling that Charlotte Moore, currently chief content officer of the BBC, will be joining them as CEO of Left Bank Pictures, succeeding Andy Harries who just unveiled his focus on the chairman role of the company.

In a second part to a dual role, she will also be appointed executive vp, creative director across SPT’s International Production Group.

“As the CEO of Left Bank, Charlotte will drive and implement a dynamic creative and growth strategy that concentrates on premium international content,” Sony said. “Building a talent network and slate to grow the business by engaging still further across all platforms to continue making the extraordinary content Left Bank is renowned for.”

In the newly created executive vp role, she will lead the group’s creative strategy. “She will work closely with president Wayne Garvie and Matthew Justice, executive vp, head of U.K. & Europe, as well as group production company and label heads, and the wider Sony Pictures and Sony Corp groups,” the firm said.

Bringing an immeasurable depth of experience, Charlotte will provide a strategic overview of the developing media landscape and the changing commissioning and buying habits and genres. As EVP, Creative Director, she will build on a period of great success for the group, and enable and encourage continued growth within the SPT International Production division. With a mandate to develop new concepts, new projects and talent initiatives, she will drive the group’s strategy to identify and maximise opportunities for investment, and champion creative opportunities within the market.

As Chief Content Officer at the BBC since 2020 Charlotte Moore has set the creative vision and editorial strategy for BBC Content across all scripted and unscripted genres and platforms. She has served as the creative lead for all of the BBC’s network television and radio output and services, including BBC iPlayer, Sounds, Film, Sport and Children’s & Education. She has presided over a period of extraordinary creativity and delivered remarkable growth in a fiercely competitive global market, and has been responsible for transforming the BBC’s digital content offer. Under her leadership, BBC Content has delivered hits in every genre achieving both record-breaking viewing figures and industry awards. Charlotte’s commitment to storytelling and track record for delivering a range and breadth of content that reflects the diversity of the BBC’s audiences is unmatched.
