Nicholas Galitzine will star as male supermodel Hoyt Richards in a new feature film project, with Gus Van Sant in talks to direct.

Details about the story are being kept under wraps, but Richards is widely known for being the highest paid male supermodel for a time. Earning fame in the late 1980s, Richards was a contemporary of supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell and became the face of campaigns for Gianni Versace, Valentino and Ralph Lauren while being photographed by the likes of Richard Avedon and Bruce Weber.

More recently, Richards has been making headlines for the new HBO docuseries Bring Me the Beauties, about his time trapped in a cult led by Frederich von Mierers, who helped Richards break into fashion but also claimed he was an alien consciousness in a human form. Richards gave millions of dollars to the cult, Eternal Values, while living a double life as both a globe-trotting supermodel and obedient cult member, as reported in a recent story in The Hollywood Reporter.

Galitzine is currently in theaters with Masters of the Universe and Sheep Detectives, both for Amazon MGM. The actor broke out with roles in both populist projects (Red, White and Royal Blue) and prestige fare (Mary & George). Coming up, Galitzine will star in the Red, White and Royal Blue sequel, Red, White & Royal Wedding, and The Mosquito Bowl, an upcoming World War II-era sports drama from Pete Berg set for release at Netflix.

Van Sant, the two-time Oscar nominee for Good Will Hunting and Milk, was most recently in theaters with crime thriller Dead Man’s Wire.

Galitzine is repped by WME, the U.K.’s Curtis Brown, Brillstein and Gang Tyre; Van Sant is repped by WME.
