Sunjay Kapur’s last rites were performed in New Delhi today. Kareena Kapoor accompanied Karisma for Sunjay’s funeral.
Kareena Kapoor was spotted with sister Karisma Kapoor as she attended her ex-husband Sunjay Kapoor’s funeral, which was held in Delhi today. For the unversed, Sunjay had breathed her last on June 12 after he had reportedly succumbed to a heart attack while he was playing polo in the United Kingdom. The news of his sudden passing left many shocked and devastated.
Kareena was accompanied by her sister Karisma and her children – daughter Samaira and son Kiaan for the funeral. In the video that has now gone viral, Kareena is seen with sister as they pay their final respects.
In a video that was put out by a paparazzo on Instagram, Kareena was dressed in a simple white suit. Kareena was earlier spotted at Mumbai airport with husband Saif, sister Karisma Kapoor, and children Samaira and Kiaan. They are on the way to Delhi to attend the funeral.

On June 18, Sunjay Kapur’s family had put out a press note which included the details of time and place of the last rites. It also mentioned when the prayer meeting would be held. The press note included mentions of children Samaira and Kiaan. On June 19 morning, Karisma Kapoor was seen publicly for the first time at the airport after Sunjay Kapur’s death. She was seen with children Samaira and Kiaan.
After the last rites, a prayer meeting will be held on June 22 between 4 pm and 5 pm at New Delhi’s Taj Palace Hotel.
A few hours before his sudden demise, Sunjay Kapur had put out a condolence message for those who lost their lives in Air India plane crash. He took to his X handle on June 12 to share his thoughts. “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. #planecrash,” he wrote.
