Karan Johar reveals he once called out son Yash over his weight gain; ‘I’m deeply, deeply apologetic…’

Karan Johar is one of the biggest names in the industry and he is also one of those who has unapologetically shared his views and opinions on several things. The filmmaker has opened up about his life, sexual orientation, kids via surrogacy and much more. In a recent interview, the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director spoke about being uncomfortable in his own skin and dealing with weight issues. He even stated that he struggles from saying anything insensitive in front of his children. As per a report in News18.com, in an interview with Faye D’souza, Karan Johar got candid about how he can see the genetic having effect on his children Yash and Roohi. He started off by stating that it breaks his heart when he sees son Yash consume sugar and gaining weight. He added that he does not want to tell him that as it is his age to enjoy and be a happy child. He said, “But I can see the genetic… I can’t call it a flaw, I get it from my mom and I know he’s getting it from me.” Further, he stated that he is affirmative that Yash will walk into the phase and combat it too. Karan Johar stated that he encourages his son to play sports and do all the things that he did not do. But then, he also doesn’t want to be that parent as he wants his kid to be an individual of his own choice. Karan Johar then recalled in an incident from an holiday when he commented about Yash’ weight gain in front of him. He immediately felt apologetic about it and said sorry to his little one. Karan Johar said, “(The comment) came out, and I’m deeply, deeply apologetic to my child. I said, ‘Yash, you’ve put on weight.’ I said it this time, we were on a holiday. I went into my room and said, ‘Why did you do this!’ Then I went outside, hugged him, and said, ‘I’m really sorry, please eat what you want’.”
