MAGA Divide Deepens on Iran as Trump Blasts His Onetime Allies

Reactions are rolling in to President Donald Trump’s lengthy Truth Social post on Thursday, in which he eviscerated several members of the online MAGA-sphere — again roasting Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly, while going after Candace Owens in an even-for-him personal manner and mocking Alex Jones — all of who have recently emerged as voices of opposition to the war in Iran.

Trump’s latest missive follows an Iran-focused war of words with Carlson, the former CNN and Fox News host who now commands a large audience on his namesake daily video podcast. Clocking in at 482 words, the president’s post scorches four of the biggest names in the MAGA-aligned online commentary space.

Carlson, after taking repeated hits from the president in the past week, was dubbed a “hand flairrlring Fool”; Kelly was again chastised for a decade-old debate question about Trump’s criticism of women. Rising star Owens was mocked for her conspiracy theory that French first lady Brigitte Macron was born a man — with Trump adding that Owens is less attractive — while Jones was torpedoed over losing his fortune in a major legal case brought by the parents of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting over Jones’ claim that the tragedy was a hoax. Trump’s individual attacks followed a blanket statement deriding all four podcast hosts.

“They’re losers, just trying to latch on to MAGA,” Trump wrote on Truth Social before launching into a series of personal insults.

Reactions came quickly from Owens and Carlson, both of whom questioned the president’s mental state. Owens reposted the message, adding: “It may be time to put Grandpa up in a home.”

Owens, along with Jones, has recently called for Trump to be removed from office. Jones, meanwhile, reacted to an Easter morning post in which Trump called for the obliteration of Iran if the Strait of Hormuz were not reopened, describing it as sounding “like an unhinged supervillain from a Marvel comic.”

In Thursday’s post, Trump wrote that Jones “says some of the dumbest things,” and reiterated his view that the hosts — all of whom supported his reelection bid and helped amplify his return to the White House — are “losers.”

“These so-called ‘pundits’ are LOSERS, and they always will be!” he wrote.

In response, Jones said in a video that he misses “the old Trump that got so many good things done … But at the end of the day, I just feel sorry for him,” adding that the Iran war is a “total disaster.”

The Trump administration’s military action in Iran — and the four pundits’ criticism of his decision-making as the situation reached a stalemate this week — served as the catalyst for Thursday’s sharply worded post. The president has faced mounting criticism not only from these figures but also from segments of his base, many of whom view foreign intervention as counter to the MAGA agenda and a betrayal of his campaign promise to keep the U.S. out of overseas conflicts.

“As President, I could get them on my side anytime I want to,” Trump asserted. “But when they call, I don’t return their calls because I’m too busy with World and Country Affairs.”

Former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene also drew Trump’s ire. The onetime MAGA stalwart broke with the president after defending victims of Jeffrey Epstein amid the administration’s decision to withhold a tranche of documents. Trump referred to her as “nasty,” and as “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown.”

Greene fired back shortly after the post went live: “I fought alongside Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones to help get Trump elected,” she wrote. “And now he goes off on a rambling rant, attacking all of us in one post. We NEVER changed — Trump did.”

Beyond those directly targeted, reaction to Trump’s post was broadly negative. White supremacist Nick Fuentes, in a video, praised the post while using a racist epithet in his commentary.

Others argue the outburst may ultimately benefit the MAGA media ecosystem by driving traffic and attention to its biggest personalities. Whether that attention is welcome is secondary to what appears to be a deep — and potentially irreparable — rift on the political right.

“MAGA is about WINNING and STRENGTH in not allowing Iran to have Nuclear Weapons,” Trump wrote. “MAGA is about MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and these people have no idea how to do that.”
