Noah Kahan‘s exhilarating year following the breakout success of multi-platinum album Stick Season is the focus of a forthcoming documentary feature.

Director Nick Sweeney’s film centering on the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter is set to debut globally on Netflix later this year, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. The project is currently untitled and follows Kahan’s recent announcement that his latest album, The Great Divide, is set for release on April 24.

The movie documents Kahan’s life after the major success of the 2022 album Stick Season, which has gone four-times platinum on the strength of singles such as “Stick Season,” “Northern Attitude” and “Dial Drunk.” The documentary will feature the musician performing on sold-out tours and working on new music, while also returning to his rural Vermont roots and family as he navigates deeply personal struggles.

Sweeney (Santa Camp) helmed the feature that hails from RadicalMedia, Live Nation Studios, Polygram Entertainment and Federal Films. Samantha Mustari, Dave Sirulnick, Stacey Reiss, Ryan Kroft, Vaughn Trudeau, Anna Keegan, David Blackman, Jeff Ludwig and Devon Libran serve as producers. Executive producers are Drew Simmons, Ryan Langlois, Michael Rapino, Jessica James Batista, Michael Yerke, Alex Maxwell, Monte Lipman, Jeffrey Remedios, Ben Adelson, Alex Coslov, Jon Kamen and Karla Zambrano.

“When we started filming, I had no idea what we’d capture, only that Noah was determined to be honest about everything, especially the messy bits,” Sweeney says. “He was in a strange in-between moment, caught in the collision between almost surreal fame and a quieter inner world he’d tried to keep offstage. What we captured over the course of a year surprised me: moments that were thrilling, terrifying, hilarious … often all at once. I’m so excited to partner with Netflix to invite viewers worldwide into Noah Kahan’s head as his world shifts beneath his feet.”

On Friday, Kahan released “The Great Divide,” the first single from his forthcoming album of the same name, and its music video will premiere as part of Mastercard’s commercial time during Sunday’s 2026 Grammy Awards telecast on CBS and Paramount+. Kahan himself is a two-time Grammy nominee, including his nomination for best new artist at the 2024 ceremony.

During a previous interview with THR, the performer emphasized the importance of proper compensation for the music industry’s songwriters: “Making sure that the people who write this music and create this music are being paid as much as the industry executives who are promoting it and putting it on their streaming platforms. We would have no music without incredible songwriters who are largely put in the background and in the shadows, not only in terms of promotion but financially as well.”
