CBS’ NCIS has run for an incredible 23 seasons.
But spin-off NCIS: Tony & Ziva will only air for one.
The drama series starring Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly — reprising their roles from the flagship series — will not get a second season on Paramount+, the streamer confirmed Friday.
“We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story,” said stars de Pablo and Weatherly in a joint statement. “Our deepest thanks go to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors, and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ who helped make this dream a reality. But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”
Ordered to series in February 2024, Tony and Ziva found the two former NCIS agents living in Paris, where they reunited to raise their daughter after Ziva — who had been presumed dead — returned to complete a final mission for the agency (de Pablo left NCIS in 2013, returning for a guest arc in 2017; Weatherly departed as a regular in 2015).
The action was more serialized than other shows in the franchise and kicked off after Tony’s security company was attacked. He and Ziva went on the run across Europe to find out who’s after them and keep their unconventional family together.
In addition to the original NCIS, the franchise continues with Paramount+’s NCIS: Sydney (currently on its third season) and CBS’ NCIS: Origins (currently in its second). Past NCIS efforts include NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Hawaii.
