On September 25th, YouTuber Li Muyang shared a screenshot purportedly showing a private chat between residents of Sunshine Upper East. It read, “I saw Yu Menglong’s face that day, but he looked scary. Later, we were bribed with millions of yuan to keep quiet.” It was also claimed that dozens of families were bribed twice, each time for approximately 1 million yuan. Some residents reported that red paint was thrown on their doors, and car tires were slashed to prevent anyone from speaking the truth.
Apart from this, the incident also impacted the property prices of the building. According to reports, flat prices in the Sunshine Upper East Complex fell by nearly 8 million yuan. While 93 flats were sold on September 23rd, the number rose to 157 the following day.
